Doing What I Love

You could say creativity runs in my family and crafting has always been fun for me.
In 2013, I had my daughter, Sawyer, I also lost my mom to cancer later that year.  I had been working for Target for almost 15 years.  I have my bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of Northern Iowa along with a ton of other business experiences from Target.
Early 2014, I decided to leave my job with Target to stay at home with Sawyer.  It didn’t take too long that I needed something to keep me busy.  I had some experience with the company “Uppercase Living” and their vinyl wall decals.  So, I took that knowledge along with a small vinyl cutter and began with my own creations!  First they were all made as gifts and I continued to receive requests to make more for purchase, so I came up with a business name, Three Dove Designs, and created a Facebook page.  After a few years of craft shows, Facebook posts, word of mouth, and a lot of work I finally decided to rent a space outside of my home.  The business had easily taken over our home and garage!  I also added DIY workshops when I moved the business out of my home.  Almost a year and half later, I’ve outgrown that small shop and I just purchased a much larger commercial building to move into. 
I am still (mostly) a one-person shop, I’m lucky to have some great friends that help me when they can and a wonderful fiancé, Chris, that tolerates all the craziness that comes with the business!  Chris has taught me to use most of his tools and then supplied me with my own so he could have his back! I do most of the woodworking myself, sometimes I can outsource some of the work.  I hand select materials, create the designs, cut, sand, stain, paint, stencil, finish, frame, etc!
I also added t-shirts to my shop awhile back, the demand for shirts is still crazy! I have partnered with other local vendors to keep up with the demand while still offering quality products.
